AMY LEE (Evanescence)-Vocal Profile

Vocal Type: Mezzo-Soprano
Vocal Range: 3 Octaves
Highest Note:  E6
Highest Belt: G5
Lowest Note: Eb3
Voice Analysis-Technical Aspects
Range:
With excess to her chest, mixed and head voice, Amy Lee's voice is well-connected throughout.

Tone:
The chest notes are full and has a smooth, warm timbre. The mixed voice can either be chest dominant and retain its tone and character, being full and well-rounded. Or it can be a "heady" mix where the voice shines with a bright and powerful ring. Amy's head voice is where she truly, truly shines, it is thick, yet rings with bright power, probably due to excellent placement in the mask. This gives her head voice a piercing quality that makes the voice sound resonant and "haunting",

Belt Quality/Power:
Amy's belts are mixed with the head voice, producing a healthy sound. It is well-supported, and well-rounded. Overall, her belts sound healthy.

Melisma:
Capable of very basic riffs on certain words.

Pitch:
Relatively good pitch live.

In a nutshell...
Positives:
Beautiful tone that maintains a bright and powerful ring in the head voice. Chest voice and the middle range is weight, dark and thick. Her mixed belts are produced via healthy technique, being well-supported and retains her voices' signature tone.
Negatives:
Her mixed belts though sound thick and well-supported, lack power. This is because her belts are not placed in the mask, thus her belts lack forward placement resonance. Her lower notes lack resonance and clarity live.
